    Question Oracle 9i Db Core Files Issue

    I CREATED A PRACTICE DATABASE USING 9I IN UNIX AND RECENTLY THE DATABASE CREATED A LOT OF CORE FILES CAUSING THE SYSTEM TO CRASH

    WHAT CAUSED THIS? ANY IDEAS WOULD HELP

    Check your alert_SID.log file for the cause of those cores.

    In oracle9's (your UNIX account owner) .cshrc file:
    limit coredumpsize 0

    or, in the directory where core dump files are being made:
    touch core
    chmod 400 core
