Hi Gangs,
I always got this error when I remotely logon with MS' Terminal Services and launched SVRMGRL. It work well if you run SVRMGRL at local box. My question is 'is there any other tools is samilar as Terminal Services but can launch SVRMGRL properly?' My environment is Oracle8.1.6 EE/Win2k.
Any opinion will be appreciated.

seen on Metalink :
[...] Also, it could be a problem with SID value you are specifying. The connection that is failing is usuing a bequeth adapter so this would fail with this error if executed on Windows Terminal Server (bequeth not supported on Terminal Server). [...]
it explains why this doesn't work, unfortunately, I cannot help you since I have very little knowledge about M$ products, sorry ...

Thanks for your help.
I get it over by leaving the error there and using servicename. for example,
svrmgrl> connect system/manager@ORCL as sysdba
svrmgrl> connected
Then, you can manage your DB normally.

Investigate ?
Hi, 24th April 2001 19:32 hrs chennai
When i was discussing this problem with my sys admin ge told to check up with the following informations.
I hope the problem will be in the services.
Check the services which supports remote login or find
the related program file in the win2k CD.
1. Try to locate the services which supports the
remote login.
2. Ensure that your system is updated with win2k
service pack 1.
3. Check sql services are running and try to login
using Admin rights.
4. Assign Admin rights to the sql/Oracle users remote
login permissions.
5. Otherwise add administrators group to the
sql/oracle local users.
6. Check the entries in the TNS names.ORA file whether
the IP and ID are correct.
7. If the problem still exists then try to change the
sql services to user account type not the system
account.
8. I don't think it is because of registry error so
don't try to change registry settings.
Please let me know if the problem solved.
Otherwise give me the exact picture about the error.
Cheers
Padmam

If you are using Win NT then you have to define ORACLE_SID into the registry to avoid the protocol adapter error.
regedit->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->ORACLE->HOMEi
Here define a string ORACLE_SID and give it the name of your instance
