Thread: oinstall

    HI,

    Has anybody created a database successfully with 'oinstall' as your primary group and 'dba' as your secondary group of your 'oracle' account?

    I am not sure about after the installation should I change the primary group to 'dba' for my oracle account.

    Can anybody reply on this.

    Thanks for your reply.

    So what you are saying is your oracle account's secondary group is 'dba' and using that account you are successfully creating databases and doing all admin work. Is that correct?

    Sorry, it took so long to get back, but the dba group is how oracle knows who is authorized to use the SYSDBA priviledge. So, by it being a secondary group is alright and yes I have my systems setup that way.
