Thread: backup contro file

    if i want to do an incomplete recover to a point-in-time that
    the database structure is different from current one,
    i should use backup control instead of current control file.
    am i right?

    is it necessary to use backup control file instead of current
    control file, or simply for recover performance reason?

    Correct, you need the backup control file. AFAIK, a current controlfile is used for a complete recovery.
