Hello
I have been asked to initiate a performance monitoring of my 40 some databases and I am looking to get some ideas from you dbas out there how do you do that? I would assume
performance monitoring would include: watching for extents, db activity, alert log monitoring, etc.
are there any suggestions to scripts or softwares i can use to actively monitor 50 instances (unix/nt?)
thanks

If you have the OEM then you can create events to fire the performance degradation issues to your mail and if you have oracle performance tuning pack installed, then you can take a live performance statistics.

I have installed OEM 2.x (on Windows 2000). But I am unable to see the 'PERFORMANCE MONITOR' option. May be I am missing something..Also please let me know how to install/configure the 'console'.
Thanks,

You need to install the Oracle Performance tuning pack, which is a seperate CD. Install that and start playing around.
