    Hi,

I have a few questions on OAS and 9iAS.

    1. How similar are OAS and iAS. If some one knows OAS will it be easier for him to learn iAS.

    2. Also are can you migrate sites on OAS 4.0.8 to 9iAS easily.

    3. Is it worthwile spending time and learning 9iAS or learning other web server's is better.

    Thanks
    Anurag

    how similar......

    hi
we are presently working on that....9ias...
Main diff is 9IAS is java based.....if you know and have experiance with
APACHE stuff it will be very easy....work concept wise we have not yet found any diff. Both are same
but application wise 9ias supports a lot....
ofcourse we are in final stage of 9ias testing....
we are right now on that task of migrating sites to 9ias...
It is the latest version from Oracle appln server.....obviously worth learning the 9ias..
    Thanks.

    OAS is a web server.

IAS is an Oracle database server and Apache web server integrated. It is a totally different product, with the similarity being they are both web servers.

well no ias is NOT a database server, the concept of ias and oas are the same, they are both application servers with web server integrated, they are in same family, ias is oracle's new application server, it should be oas's next generation but ias has NOT inherited any oas architecture, it has been totally recoded. also oas's web server was not apache, I forgot the name but that one really sucked that's why they are using apache now

i dont know how HOT is ias in the application server market but if you wanna learn ias and another application server probably it would be Bea WebLogic, note I am talking about application server not web server
