    I have RMAN working on my 10 ORACLE databases version 8.0.5.1.0 on HP-UX unix 10.20.
    It seems to work fine the only problem is the bug above.

    RMAN-03026: error recovery releasing channel resources
    RMAN-00569: =======error message stack follows================
    RMAN-03006: non-retryable error occurred during execution of command: resyn
    c
    RMAN-07004: unhandled exception during command execution on channel default
    .
    RMAN-10032: unhandled exception during execution of job step 1: ORA-06512:
    at
    l9
    RMAN-20094: missing backup set

    And the bug is no. 621515.
    To fix this bug you have to recreate the control files( from ORACLE SUPPORT).

    Regards
    Alexandre

    if you do cold backup why bother use rman? just shutdown db then copy/tar. unless you need rman to tracking backup for you.
