    Angry

    Ugh!
My company is thinking of switching to IBMs DB2 from Oracle. Obviously, I don't want THAT to happen. Do any of you have any info regarding DB2?
How can I sell the company on Oracle vs. DB2?

Basically, they wanna go to DB2 because it is SO much cheaper for the liscenses etc.

Any info on how bad DB2 is would be greatly helpful! ;-P

    take a look at http://www.databasetrends.com/01.mar...f.analyst.html

I wouldn't tell my company about it though. They have a study published there right now that says DB2 is nearly 50% cheaper . . . Better to be armed with information than discuss it ignorantly.

    Good luck

    Price is not everything.
The best your company do is not buying what analyst say, I mean.
Put yourself on Oracle side when the doc is against Oracle AND
Put yourself on IBM side when the doc is against IBM.
If they buy DB2, good for you!, you will know Oracle AND DB2!
I have the Oracle brand on my front but I wouldn't say no if my boss send me to a MS-SQLServer course, would you?

    Red face interesting

Of course I wouldn't say no to a course, but they just assume I am gonna teach MYSELF everything. It's kind of rediculous!

They just say: "You better learn how Oracle stores Java and XML."
    or
"We are thinking of going with DB2 cause it's cheaper so you better learn it."

    nice huh?
