    Hi,
    I would like to know when we are configuring RMAN,
    1. The target Database should be in Archive Log mode. If not what will happen.
    2. Do we need the password file? if not what will happen.

    The target database should be in archivelog mode if you are doing an online/hot backup. Otherwise, I think you are OK.

    The password file is required for rman to work.
    If not, you cannot log on the target database.
