Job Decription:

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

- Support business growth by allowing primary dealer implementation

-Implement new system for Primary Dealer (Treasuries +High Grade Corporate bonds) by Q3 2009

-Migrate clearance and settlement operations for equities and equity derivatives

- Migrate other Fixed Income business

- Retire older systems

- Outsource Clearance and Settlement operations for Equities and Fixed Income



ROLE:

The services include setting up infrastructure, provide day-to-day support to maintain the infrastructure, on-call support, provide extensive help in performance and tuning of the database instance including but not limited to setting up monitoring tools, developing and implementing archive strategy, helping developers with Database best practices, developing and implementing data replication process etc.

Please note that the contractor will be used to backfill in the support teams so that existing engineers can focus on this new project.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Analyze/troubleshoot database issues,

- Handle on-call alerts during business hours and off-hours

- Deploy database changes to production using firms change management/release management policies and procedures,

- Independently handle database, infrastructure specifications, performance and capacity planning using statistical data related to database,

- Review application SQL code and advise application teams with best practices and performance issues,

- Setup and maintain database backup/recovery procedures,

-Independently handle database projects like Data server upgrades, implementation of security policies, and disaster recovery tests.



Required:
Excellent technical skills on the following technologies:




Proficient in:

- Performance analysis tools for databases

- Database monitoring

- Perl/other programming/scripting language

- SAN (EMC) and synchronous replication (SRDF)

- Windows and Unix/Linux basic knowledge

- SQL on Windows clusters



Desired:

- Autosys

-NetBackup

-Database certifications

- NetApp knowledge (Oracle on NFS)
