I installed Oracle8i on NT.
The OEM used to work fine. But now I have troble to run OEM.
When I tried to open Enterprise Manager Console, I got the error message of "Unable to connect to the management server". I checked the services and found Management Server didn't started. Then I tried to start the Management Server but got the error of "Could not start Management Server service. Error 2140: An internal Windows NT error occurred."
Where is the possible problem? Thanks.

O.K try doing the following. Go to the task manager and check whether the stray process of OMS are still running. They would be
launch.exe and jrew.exe
IF so, fist try to close them as
oemctrl stop oms
Then try
oemctrl status
Now check whether those processes had been removed. If not remove them by END Process. Now try starting the management server as
oemctrl start oms
It should now start!

Thanks for the reply.
As the processes didn't exist, I run "oemctrl start oms" directly. But I got the message of "Management Server service could not be started. The service did not report an error. Try the task later. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator."
I tried several times and the results are the same.

O.K give me some more information on the following:
OEM version:
database version:
Did you try to stop the OMS? Did you get to check the status of OMS?
My normall approach on unix was as I said ealier on OEM 2.1.
Any how, we can see what what is the issue?

I am running Oracle 8i ver8.1.7 on NT.
I didn't stop OMS as it didn't start. When I checked the OMS status by running oemctrl status oms, I got the message of
"VXA-2008 : Cold not locate an Oracle management Server on node xxx.... Has it been shut down?"

So it looks like that you are running OEM 2.2. Check your log file under ORACLE_HOME/sysman/log/oms.log, to see what is the actual cause of the problem.

I have actually checked the log file oms.nohup but still cannot figure out how to fix the problem.
Do you mind for me to send you a email with a attachment of that log file as it is too big to post here? Thanks.
