    Red face

    Hi,
    Can someone tell me why does Oracle gives a ORA-00600 error when u select from v$pwfile_users view through SQL*Plus.
    If we give select against the v$pwfile_users view through SVRMGR by using internal...it shows me the output.Can anyone tell me the reason for it.

    Which Version of Oracle You are running on

    Hi There ,

    I can do :

    select * from v$pwfile_users ;

    without any problem in sqlplus. So i was wondering if it is somekind of bug. I am running on 8.1.5

    It is kinda bug. I have confirmed with Oracle when I got the same error. One they upgraded the features, they didn't clean up the old stuff/views(usually Oracle lazy to clean relevant old features when they upgrade the features) which nturn gives the Ora-600 error. You are safe. Don't worry.

    I will try looking into my tar and post any relevant info later...
