Thread: SNAPSHOTS TOO OLD

    Guys,

    Do you know of any other reason where you can get this error 'SNAPSHOTS TOO OLD', aside from there is not enough rollback segment to hold the transaction. We have 4 rollback segments each 400 Mb in size.

    One of our developer executed a 'create table .... as select ...', the source table have 62M rows in it. Of course his not trying to load all of that data into the new table, but still I can't think of any other reason (aside from the volume of data) why his getting this error.

    Some other transactions are changing the source table rows at the same time the CREATE AS SELECT is reading from it.

    Search the archives of this forum, there are tons of explanations what causes ORA-1555 from past threads on this topic.
