Multiple instance

I have tried to run 3 instances on one of my Oracle Server. I encounter problem when starting the oracle at nomount.

The first one I configure with 100 processes.
same for second one.
The third one could not start unless i edit the process to 25.

When can I change to increase the processes?

I am running the oracle on UE 220, 1 G memory, 2 CPU.

check your etc/system settings and increase the number of semaphores. That might help you to fix the problem. Other wise please let us know the ORA error #.

The error message is a common one :

SVRMGR> startup pfile=initrckana.ora nomount
ORA-27146: post/wait initialization failed
