Oracle DBA with 8i experience needed in Richmond VA

Position: Oracle DBA
Location: Richmond, Virginia

Description:

This position is with a major entity that needs an Oracle DBA
to provide database support. This is a staff position.

* Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will work under limited direction and perform
installation, customization and implementation of ORACLE distributed
application systems.
Performs database design/implementation, database
monitoring/ tuning and produces statistical reports of database efficiency.
Maintains database dictionaries, develops and monitors database standards
and procedures.
Evaluates and recommends state-of-the-art software and
technical innovations to aid design and performance monitoring.
Assists with
evaluation, implementation and maintenance of tools and techniques for
database administration.
Coordinates projects, prepares activity and
progress reports.

* Requirements:
-3-5 years experience including installation, customization,
implementation, maintenance and performance monitoring/tuning of ORACLE
7/ORACLE 8i distributed application systems.
-Working knowledge of UNIXand/or WINDOWS NT operating environments
and multi-tier distributed application architecture is required.
-2-3 years experience with database design/data modeling required.
-Knowledge of messaging middleware and ADSM backup/recovery capability
is desirable.
-Working knowledge of IMS/DB2, UDB and MICROSOFT SQL-SERVER a plus.
-Candidate must have ability to work independently, possess strong written
and oral communication skills and be able to handle multiple priorities.
-Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of ORACLE database management.
-* U.S. citizenship or permanent residency also required.
