About control file

hi guys
I issued the command "alter database backup controlfile to trace" and genrated trace file which contains create command
.could you please tell me all the steps to create the controlfile.

Hi,
See the command "alter database backup controlfile to trace" will create a script that u can use in case all ur controlfile gets corrupted or lost.Alternatively u can also backup the controlfile with the command "alter database backup controlfile to '/disk1/data/control.bak"
"Alter database backup controlfile to trace" will create a trace file containing the syntx to recreate the trace file.U edit the trace file to remove the comments and save the file as .sql file.If all ur controlfile are lost shutdown the database,open the database in nomount stage and run the sql script to recreate the controlfile.
Recreating the controlfile is basically not advised since u should keep atleast 2 copies of controlfiles mirrored.
