porting of an instance from one server to the other

Hi all,

I am starting with a new pro, where i need to transport the existing instance on its entirety from one m/c to the other server due to some admin reasons. Both are running on Oracle 8.1.6. Pl suggest me the best and easy way to implement it. Is there any check list available on this list?

What's the Platform?

The platform is HP-UX 11.0. I would like to add a correction here. The source instance is Oracle 8.0.4.0.0 and the target m/c is running with Oracle 8.1.7.1.1.

How big is the database ?
Very big to handle for exports and imports - Use ODMA
Moderate - Use Exp/Imp

Install 8171 binaries on new box.
