Recruiters like DBAs who worked with their preferred platforms, i.e., a HP shop would want to hire a DBA who has HP-UX background and a SUN site would like DBA with Solaris or SunOS skills. For consultants, it would be nice to have as many UNIX background as possible.

My question to those who have worked with several different UNIX flavors, according to your experiences, what is the uniqueness of each UNIX flavor to carrying out the performance of Oracle database? I mean, what are the differences between AIX+Oracle and Solaris+Oracle and HP-UX+Oracle from an operating system perspective? What should be taken into consideration as an Oracle DBA moves from one flavor to another?

I'm only talking about UNIX. NT is not relevant.

Thanks for your input
