What's the purpose of the REPOSIT tablespace? When is it used?

Is it a new installation, or an old one. If it was an old installation, which you had acquired, then the dba who ever had created the database would have created it with the intention for the oracle tools, like designer or any other that require a repository to be created for their functionality. If it was a new installation, then it would have been the intention of oracle to seperate the repository from the tool table space.

In any case, it is a good practice to seperate the repository from the other datafiles.

Hope this would explain its intention.

That is what I guessed, since I didn't get a chance to play with the installation of 8.1.5, I gave some guess, (under the new installation) ;0
