    Hi,
I am getting the following error when I try to startup my new Oracle 8i 8.1.6 server.

    Host% svrmgrl

Oracle Server Manager Release 3.1.6.0.0 - Production

Copyright (c) 1997, 1999, Oracle Corporation. All Rights Reserved.

    Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production

    SVRMGR> connect internal
    Connected.
    SVRMGR> startup
    ORA-27146: post/wait initialization failed
    SVRMGR>

Could you any of you guys help me with this.

By the way my /etc/system filw has the following entries

    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=655360000
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=30
    set semsys:seminfo_semmns=1000
    set semsys:seminfo_semmni=100
    set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=100
    set semsys:seminfo_semopm=100
    set semsys:seminfo_semvmx=32767

Did any one of you encounter this problem before??

    Thanks,
    Arun

    Hi,

I suspect some problem with a parameter (may be post_wait_driver) in your init.ora file. Can you try starting up the instance,by giving the 'startup nomount'.If it is not starting, the problem should be with init.ora.If it is starting up,the problem is elsewhere and I need to think.
