    I have my system tablespce with two datafiles.
    Is it recommended? If no, why?

    it all depends on what you store in the system tablespace not how many files are there in the system tablespace.tablespaces are like different trays in your refregirator some trays are ment for freezing some for keeping vegetables some for jams juices .say for example tarys meant for vegetables should always be stocked with vegetables and not say with coke bottles or anything else in the same way system table space should always conatin data dictonary information only as long as you adhere to this rule you are safe .
