Check that your connecting using the correct (default) DAD.
I believe there was also a thread for this problem on
metalink.oracle.com
-
can you tell me how to check if my connectin use the correct
DAD?

I have similar problem.
I can also can actually use http://machine-name:/pls/portal30/admin_/gateway.html
to access gateway.htm page.
I checked both 9iAS side and client side,
portal30/portal30@MY_SID work fine!
But when I use web
http://machine_name:80/pls/simpledad
it gave me:
Proxy log On failed.
Please verify that you have specified correct connectivity information i.e.username, password & connect-string in the Database Access Descriptor

Looks like not too many DBAs working
9iAS.
Even Oracle supports are not good enough IMHO
Sometimes, it took me more than a week to get an
answer. And most of the time, they do not know the
answer(s) either!
-
i would be grateful if anyone could tell me if there is any site on oracle.com from where i could download any of the following for free:-
oracle application server
9iAS
-
Did you try Oracle Technology Network ? You have everything over there for downloads.
