Thread: ora 3113

    I started my database and received the erro message ORA-3113 Can not open database.
    I have no idea what caused the error but I have fixed it through setting the sid, starting sever manager and starting the database. All is fine now.
    BUT CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT CAUSED THAT ERROR MESSAGE SO THAT I CAN PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN?

    There are many known reasons for this error. I suggest you check on Metalink regarding this issue.

    Hi,

    First simple suggestion please check if you mounted the database, because sometimes this error shows that we are trying to start up nonmounted database.
    In this case you may go to metalink and read this note 51452.996 on metalink.

    Second if you mounted the database, please look at other errors which you may have.
