    Question

    Hi Friends,
I am installing Oracle 8.1.6 on sun sparc solaris 2.6
After going thro' some installation, i get an error which reads something like this - error invoking /u02/oracle/product/8.1.6/OraHome1/ins_rdbms.mk

if i ignore and proceed, the installation is not proper.
can somebody tell what it is and what settings i have to make prior to the start?
    thanks

this problem is due to missing make utility which is necessary to for compilation install the make utility from your operating system vendors cd.

check /usr/ccs/bin to if you can find make there. I know solaris 2.8 has make there, but not sure solaris 2.6

Something to do with the path you have set. Seems the mk file is not in the path you have set. Find where mk file binaries are there and include that library binaries in the path.

    Install problem

    Hi Yenni143,

I got the same error when installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Linux.

I forgot to install the developmental package when installing linux.
When I installed the package and ran the Oracle installation again all worked fine.

    HTH
