Thread: error on oracle

    hi
    im haveng problem logging on to oracle
    it gives me error >oracle not available<
    heres what i did....
    i connect internal...then i set oracle_sid to new db name that i create...startup the pfile <path>
    gives me error that oracle is running then i issue shutdown immediate command...
    i exit the internal...then try log log on oracle sql/plus n get error that oracle is not available ...how can i fix this <NT>

    Work around: try svrngr system/manager@xyz syntax where xyz is connect string you are trying to connect.

    You need to set ORACLE_SID BEFORE you get into server manager...

    At first set up the SID then startup ...pfile. Then Svrmgr startup. If it says oracle is running type in
    shutdown and after it shutsdown type in startup.
    Now try logging onto sqlplus as system/manager.
