One of my db_links started to act up.
I am getting 'ORA-12203: TNS:unable to connect to destination' error.
I am able to TNSPING db name I am attemting to connect to through db link.
When I do PING (ip address) dos screen displays:'Request timed out'.
I know ip address has not changed. There was some work done on the the database I am trying to reach. I am not sure what they've done.
Please bring the light to this problem.

'Request timed out' suggests a network problem. Contact your NT admin. Is this on NT??

I need to correct myself.
Now when I do PING (IP ADDRESS) it says:
Pinging (ip address) with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out
Request timed out
Request timed out

Can you connect via sqlplus from the local database using the alias you specified in the "CREATE DATABASE LINK"?

No, getting connection error.
ERROR: ORA-12203: TNS:unable to connect to destination
Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE.

You probably have a network error between the two hosts.

db link
Thank you to everyone who replied.
In fact there was some problem with tnsnames.ora.
Now I've worked it out to a such point where I CAN connect to my remote db through sqlplus.
But my db link remaines not active. I created a test link with parameters of my remote db. It doesn't work either.
Please help.
