Thanks for your advice. I have a question here, dont you think I should have the sid registered as a service before running the create databse script. At this point I deleted prod and all the related files. I tried to use oradim80 but it doesn't show the service is started in the service window of control panel

Try to follow these steps.

>set oracle_sid=newsid
>use oradim80 to create password file.
>Then invoke svrmgr
>Start the instance
>recreate the constrolfile (expecting all other files, data and logfiles are avilable.
(If all files are deleted then you can start a new database creation)
>mount and open.
