I am trying to make accessment from you, experienced DBAs, in terms of Oracle skills for the next few year projection, based on benefits and fun of course. Basically, if one has to choose, what will an area(s) where one can benefit the most . Maybe you can give rating 1-10 for exp.
Typical DBA (backup/recovery, install, monitor)
Logical Design
Physical Design
Tuning (database, Unix)
Application Tuning (SQL)
Data Modeling
Oracle Applications(Finance, Manufac.)
SAP Apps. Support
Peoplesoft Apps. Support(HR etc.)
Data Warehouse (Oracle)
Data Warehouse (non-Oracle)
This is my rating. If you think of more stuff, please add them in my list as well.
Typical DBA (backup/recovery, install, monitor) = 8
Logical Design = 10
Physical Design = 10
Tuning (database, Unix) = 10
Application Tuning (SQL) = 10
Data Modeling = 9
Oracle Applications(Finance, Manufac.) = 9
SAP Apps. Support = 3
Peoplesoft Apps. Support = 3
Data Warehouse (Oracle) = 9
Data Warehouse (non-Oracle) = 5
Thanks so much
