    Hi Guys

    I Had 2 databases on the same server one by the name orcl and the other by the name tggg.The password for system is same for the both databases.Whenever i am trying to connect to tggg database from sql using system/password it is getting connected to Orcl.How to get connect to tggg database by default.

    What OS ? Your environment not set properly. Check ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME before connecting to... and see what sid the environment have been set to.

    Hi Reddy

    The os is windows Nt 4.0.

    At svrmgr it's ok. Set ORACLE_SID=tggg.
    from here i can connect to tggg by svrmgr>!sqlplus system/manager.

    but from start->programs->oracle for windows nt->sqlplus 3.3 i couldn't able to connect to tggg instead it is getting connected to orcl.

    can u clarify me about this.

    I think from the start menu that SQL*Plus looks at one of the registry settings to figure out the default database.
