    Question

As far as my knowledge and my memory goes, the value of PCTINCREASE should be greater than 0 for SMON to coalesce the tablespace. [ 8.0.x]

Does this mean that I can have a PCTINCREASE of 0 for the indexes and tables in the tablespace and still expect SMON to coalesce the tablespace when appropriate?

    Thanks in advance.

if you set pctincrease 1 at tablespace level and 0 at segment level smon will coalesce the tablespace automatically

    Exclamation

    Thank You.

Will I be right in saying that SMON looks only at the tablespace level?

Yes. SMON looks at tablespace level PCTINCREASE and if it is > 0 then does the coalesce.
