Load Testing

We are in the final steps of picking a hardware\OS platform on which to run a 1500 user JD Edwards installation. We are down to 2 vendors (IBM, HP) and both have offered to lend us evaulation servers for testing. My task is to hook both devices up to our storage selection (Network Appliance F840 via 200MB NFS mounts) and "beat the snot" out of them to determined the best performer.

Question: Looking for input on tools(SQL Generators), procedures and measurement points for this evaulation. Also any input on this configuration based on past experiance would be greatly appreciated.

You could try looking at the TPC website (Transaction processing council) - [url]http://www.tpc.org.[/url]
They publich benchmark results on a number of different platforms for different configurations (not only oracle). You may find something of use there.
