    Hi all,

Hope this is the right place to post this question. I recently joined a program that prepares students to become DBA's. Its a six month program, roughly. It's every weekend sat-sun, 4-7 P.M. I wanted to attach our course schedule and get some feedback from you guys to see if the topics covered in this course would prepare me for an actual job. Thanks!

The course seems interesting. After you finish if you want to get a job as a DBA you need to get experience.
You might be able to find work in a DBA outsourcing company. They usually have high turn over, but will give
    you really good experience.

You can also try volunteering your new skills to a non profit. Good luck!

Do you think its enough information to be productive on the job?

That will probably be enough information, but it helps to find a mentor who can guide you through the harder
less defined issues. You should be able to install Oracle, patch Oracle both to a new full version and patch set
update, create a database, know how to allocate memory, online redo, backup clone and tune.

You just need the exposure to all of the issues that can happen and know what to do when an issue comes up.
