    Oracle 11g DB restore

    I have taken oracle database on linux machine by doing cp -rf , but now i want to restore this db on other machine.
    How can i do without losing any data?
    Please help

    Did you copy only the Oracle software or included the data files?
    On what other machine/OS you want to restore?

    When you did the copy, was the database up? was the Oracle Home in use (vg. listener running)?
    If the above is true, your copy in unusable.

    If you want to copy the Oracle Software Read The Fine Manual on: Cloning an Oracle Home
