    rootupgrade.sh failed while upgrading oracle restart GI

    Hi,

    I am upgrading my standalone grid infrastructure (Oracle restart) from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3 and ran into issues while running rootupgrade.sh. All the perquisites for upgrade are taken care. Please see the error stack below.

    OS: Linux 5

    Performing root user operation for Oracle 11g

    The following environment variables are set as:
    ORACLE_OWNER= grid
    ORACLE_HOME= /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid

    Enter the full pathname of the local bin directory: [/usr/local/bin]:
    The contents of "dbhome" have not changed. No need to overwrite.
    The contents of "oraenv" have not changed. No need to overwrite.
    The contents of "coraenv" have not changed. No need to overwrite.

    Entries will be added to the /etc/oratab file as needed by
    Database Configuration Assistant when a database is created
    Finished running generic part of root script.
    Now product-specific root actions will be performed.
    Using configuration parameter file: /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/crs/install/crsconfig_params

    ASM Configuration upgraded successfully.

    CRS-4639: Could not contact Oracle High Availability Services
    CRS-4000: Command Modify failed, or completed with errors.
    Failed to write the checkpoint:'' with status:FAIL.Error code is 256
    Failed to disable CSSD startup at /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/crs/install/crsconfig_lib.pm line 14121.
    /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/perl/bin/perl -I/u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/perl/lib -I/u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/crs/install /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/crs/install/roothas.pl execution failed
    I didn't find any useful information in MOS or in Google for this particular error. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Vijay Tummala

    This issue has been resolved.

    The problem was with /tmp ran out of space during upgrade. I cleared 1 GB space before starting upgrade and the upgrade is successful.
