    Hi:

I just completed a whole database backup (level 0) and when I checked the archive directory, I have about 25 archive log files that have not been backed up.

I attempted to run the command to just backup these archive logs using the sequence number and I get the error

RMAN-20242: specification does not match any archivelog in the recovery catalog

    The documentation says...

Cause: No archive logs in the specified archive log range could be found.

Action: Check the archive log specifier

My question is - where is the archive log specifier defined and how can I change it?

    Thanks.

I am not sure where and how to define those piece number either. BUT how you know you have 25 arch not backup?
where you get those information? if you have the list, you should be able to use TIME FROM TO or FROM LOGSET TO LOGSET to set the range.

Whenever I backup the archived logs, I ask RMAN to delete it if successful. I can see the files remaining in my archive destination. I did attempt to use the logseq to specify the files and that's actually when I get the RMAN-20242 error...
