    Initial Extent size

    Hi,
I need your thoughts on configuring large initial extent size of 256K across all tables in a large schema.

    Large extent good or bad?

    Thanks and Regards

why bother, just use locally managed tablespaces with system generated extents then you never need to worry about it again

I'm in agreement with Davey - this is a question that was relevant perhaps four or five years ago.

Answerig your question, it all depends on table size and data volatility. What would be good for a particular table would be bad for other.
