    External tables on SAN

    Hi,

    Can we create external tables on SAN storage,

    As we are having EMC storage with RAC 11g, want to create external tables on SAN.

    If possible, please explain briefly

    Nothing special - just be sure the DIRECTORY is created on a shared filesystem.

    If shared file system created on Operating system level, then if one node goes down how the other node can access the file.


    Do you mean shared file system on storage? but storage is RAW with no Operating system on it.

    To support External Tables you need a cooked filesystem in addition to the raw devices you use for datafiles.
