    usage of symbolic link in utl_file_dir

    How to use symbolic link in utl_file_dir. The environment is oracle 10g on solaris 10g.

    Cool

    If your os is Windoze, it will not work.
    Otherwise for unix, just code/add the link on utl_file_dir parameter.

    set the parameter as utl_file_dir as '*' , but not able to access the directory using symbolic link.

    By giving direct path able to access file, but not through symbolic link.

    why are you still using utl_file_dir in 10g? Is it any legacy application requirement? If not, you can try using Oracle directory method.

    Then make sure the file system permissions match what you're trying to do.

    Please do this, log into the host as "oracle" after all that's the user that will access the file then post ...
    whoami
    ls -ltr softlink-including-complete-path
    ls -ltr actual-phisical-file-including-complete-path
