Oracle 11i on windows 2008
Hi all,
I am planning to install Oracle R2 64 bin on windows 2008 64 bit. I have following question and need some guidance..
1) Will oracle 11i support windows cluster. (server A will be in NY and server B will be in TX)
2) should i install Oracle cluster as well on windows cluster.
3) I want to create DR or business continuity process so we ca fail over in any situation and fail back to original.
what are other option?? Please guide since i am new to this........
thanks

First of all, please clarify what it is you trying to install/use: 11g or 11i? These are entirely two different animals. And by Windows cluster, do you really mean RAC? Cluster works for SQL Server. Oracle uses RAC. Further, 11i isn't even certified against 2008.

Oracle 11i refers to Oracle Apps while Oracle 11g refers to Oracle RDBMS - either way, even if you are talking about Oracle Apps you have to put your database in some place, isn't it?
Oracle 11g is certified for Windows 2008 64 bits and Oracle Apps documentation is pretty clear in regards to how to setup a high availability environment - you may want to start by taking a look at it.
In regards to DR you may want to take a look at Data Guard; I would start here... http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B...b28294/toc.htm
Please do not take this the wrong way but this appears to be a sizeable project in an organization with little to none experience on the particular matter. This kind of project requires to have on board experienced people with a proven track of successful implementations.
