    how to backup 8i to 11gr1

    i have a old server redhat as 2.1 with oracle 8i.

    just got a new machine, redhat 5.x with oracle 11gr1

    i was reading about backup and recovery with out export/import?

    i do not know any oracle, just say a guide on xxx.idevelopment.info/data/Oracle/DBA_tips/Backup_and_Recovery/BandR_2.shtml http://www.idevelopment.info/data/Oracle/DBA_tips/Backup_and_Recovery/BandR_2.shtml

    My problem is at section 3.)

    first the svrmgrl is not in 11gr1
    but you can use:
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect / as sysdba

    but when i try to run my cr_control.sql i run into problem.
