    Patching 8.1.7.3 to 8.1.7.4

Hi There, trying to get my database to 8.1.7.4 so i can then upgrade to 10g.

I copied over my 8.1.7.3 database to a different server. I think (it was some time ago and trying to kick off this work again) that i installed 8.1.7.3 on new server then patched it to 8.1.7.4. I then brought up the database and it opens up fine.
    I ran catalog.sql and catproc.sql
    When i look at v$version i have
    Code:
    Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.3.0 - Production
    PL/SQL Release 8.1.7.3.0 - Production
    CORE 8.1.7.0.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 8.1.7.3.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 3.4.1.0.0 - Production
saying that i am on 8.1.7.3
I went to run the 8.1.7.4 patch again (just in case i didn't actually do it all those months ago) but it says there are no patched that need to be applied.

    What have i missed?

Are you missing STARTUP UPGRADE or STARTUP MIGRATE step?. I am not sure whether they are applicable for this upgrade (.3 to .4).

    Davey/skhanal

Yeah, i think that's where i mucked up. I wasn't sure of exact steps going from 8.1.7.3 to 8.1.7.4

In the end i upgraded to 9.2.0.8.0 and then onto 10.2.0.4.0

    Thanks for the responses everyone.
