How relevant Java for DBA Skills ? Iam curious.

One needs rest of all(PERL,SHELL Scripts, SYS Admin stuff) for automating DBA tasks across the network and in day-to-day life. I don't see the reason for havin Java skills other than exposure one need, to configure 8i/9i for Java usage.

I think in about two years Java in the database will be extremely important to know. I take the same approach today with Java as I did with PL/SQL about 5 years ago; I don't need to know it all, but I need to understand what is going on.
