Partition issue

I wish to partition a table by day. I hear you can do it based on day of the week?.
Has anyone ever done this? Can anyone post a pointer script? or anything that helps.

Table has to be recreated/repopulated as partitioned.
Carefully choose you partitioning strategy... most probably range or list on described scenario.
Be sure partitioning strategy helps during archiving/purging and/or querying.
Carefully choose indexing strategy... global, local parititioned indexes depending on table functionality and business specs.
