    Oracle Net-Problem in HOSTNAME

    Dear All,

I am configuring hostname method for testing.

    step 1 :

    Configure listner as per documentation.

    Step 2 :

Configure sqlnet.ora file as per documentation

    Step 3 :

add hostname entry in /etc/hosts file

I have also remove tnsnames.ora file.

Now when i tried to connect using following command I am getting ORA-12560: TNSrotocol adapter error.

    sqlplus system/oracle@sales.us.acem.com

    Thanks in advance,

    Nirav

you can't connect with service name if you remove tnsnames.ora file. Replace the file and add proper entry in tnsnames.ora file. Test tnsping before trying to connect.

    Thanks,

If you are trying to connect with easy connect host name method then tnsnames is not required.

The below Oracle white paper might help you to connect to the database with out tnsnames configuration.
