We have a customer using Oracle database and our application both installed on a Solaris box. He has been reporting slowness for past few days. The slowness goes away as soon as the application is restarted.

The application works like this:
It stores the metadata of files that are checked into the system. When the user wants to see the thumbnails or previews of files through application interface, then the scrolling down using mouse shows a busy sign for a while and then shows the thumbnails of files. But when the application is restarted, then there is almost no busy sign.

I don't know to tune Solaris and neither does the customer. Is there something like OS cache or anything that fills up and causes slowness?

**This is not much of Oracle stuff but the comments will be appreciated**.

There is no System Admin of Solaris who could assist me. That's why, I felt like asking it here.
