steps to upgrade 10.2.0.3 to on new server 10.2.0.4

    Hi,

I am preparing for the upgrade on new server.

I have RH Linux 4.X version and OS is upgrading to RH Linux 5.2. I am planning to install fresh oracle 10.2.0.4 on top.

I have old server with Oracle 10.2.0.3 and want to upgrade to 10.2.0.4..

What steps i need to follow? Please advise and guide!!

    Thanks
    Pat

Moving from one server to another server is not an upgrade but a migration; two questions.

    - how big is the database?
    - do you have connectivity in between the two servers?

Here is what I would do...

1- Ask systems to lay out file systems on NEW server exactly as they are on OLD one.
2- Install 10.2.0.4 on NEW server
3- Create database on NEW server
4- Export full=y on OLD server
5- FTP dump file from OLD to NEW server
6- Import full=y on NEW server
7- Check constraints, etc are created - recompile invalid objects
    8- Gather fresh stats
9- Setup backup strategy on NEW server
    10- Done.
