Data Pump

Hi All,

I have two doubts regarding Data Pump.

1) In one doc I read that normal export / import will generate the dump fils in client and datapump generet in server side....here what is this client and server.....?

Normaly we will connect to the server and from there we will run exp/imp and dump file will be generated there...so that location is itself in server right....? then how come it will become client.....I got fully confused...

2) I read for security and integrity we will create Directory object in DataPump.....Can some one pls explain this little bit more simple...?

the client is whereever you run the exp tool from

the dataump will only write to the server where the database machine is - whereever you run the tool from

2) look up directories on otn.oracle.com

this is all very basic stuff
