    Moving instance: Different releases

I am moving an instance of my database to another server and I am getting an error in the alert log saying:

    ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure
ORA-39700: database must be opened with UPGRADE option

Can this be due to the source database being version 11.1.0.7 and the target database being 11.1.0.6?

I am about to do the same today for 10.2.0.2 database to another server and rename it. Would you mind sharing the steps you took?

Now that I know they have to be the same version, make sure you get that verified first!

Aside from that, you can follow this guide I found online. Simple and to the point!
