    Query runs faster 2nd time

I have a query (with lot of JOINS), which takes about 36 seconds first time and takes only 2 seconds second time. The same query runs with vendor env within 5 seconds first time itself.

Any idea how to make the query runs faster even first time?

    It is AIX5.3/10.2.0.2

    Talking Parse + buffers

1ts time - Parse query and load data buffers in memory
2nd time - No parse and some or all data in memory

Thanks for the clarification but I wonder how it runs faster in vendor's site but not in our place. Is it because they have faster systems with more memory and CPU? Vendor not responded so far for their config.

There could be various reasons for your two line question. Ask your DBAs to analyze AWR report to see the bottlenecks.
