ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory
    Additional information: 3
ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 4 of thread 1
    ORA-00312: online log 4 thread 1: '/data/m4rep/system2/m4rep_redo_04b.rdo'
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory
    Additional information: 3
    ORA-00312: online log 4 thread 1: '/data/m4rep/system/m4rep_redo_04a.rdo'
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory

I thought that the problem might be with the redo logfiles and checked the status of the redo file. All are in online and working fine.
Can anyone please tell me why i got this error in alertlogfile???Whether my tracing is correct?

    Look at this...

    ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 1: '/data/m4rep/system2/m4rep_redo_03b.rdo'
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory

Operating system cannot see the file.

Either file is not there or you have a privileges issue.

Well... operating system cannot see it.

Log into the box using the oracle account then do...

    ls -ltr /data/m4rep/system2/m4rep_redo_03b.rdo

    ... is the file listed?

I would ask the systems guy to check on their end anyway.

    Interesting.

If you are getting these error messages logged in alertlog it means Operating System is telling Oracle it can't see the affected files.

    Just to be sure:

    a) Is affected database up-and-running?
    b) Are you sure entries on alertlog are from today?
    c) Are you sure you are looking at the right database, right alertlog?

Since this is an O/S originated error I would report the issue to Systems team letting them know...

1- O/S error which is: HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory
2- List of affected files: /data/m4rep/system2/m4rep_redo_03b.rdo , etc.
    3- Date/Time of the error/s

If errors keep comming into alertlog and Systems team is not responsive I would escalate.

Yes the database is up and running fine..
I'm checking the correct database and correct logfile.
    Yes,this alert date is correct.

I suppose cloning will haapen daily.Whether while opening the database it might faced this error.later then it might be resolved.[Hoping so]..
